NFC East: Predictions

Philadelphia Eagles:Prediction Over 9.5 Wins- The Eagles finished the regular season with an impressive string of wins and they head into next year as the team to beat in the NFC East. Philadelphia will need to make some improvements to their offense, but will have (QB) Donovan McNabb back in action leading the attack. With versatile (RB) Brain Westbrook’s ability to make big plays, the Philadelphia offense should be back in high gear.

There is no doubt that the defense needs to improvements as well. How much they improve will depend greatly on how the season ended for the New Orleans Saints. If the New Orleans offense was so good last year, why did they finish with a mark of 7-9? With some luck and some solid coaching, the Eagles should once again reach the double-digit mark in wins this year.

There is no doubt that the Eagles will have to play hard to win the NFC East. Mc Cunningham proved last season that he can remain healthy for the long haul and that the touches will be available. No one knows the secret yet, but the Eagles appear to be the betting favorite in the race to the playoffs.

Dallas Cowboys:

  • Prediction Over 9 Wins- The Cowboys had a rollercoaster season last year that saw numerous ups and downs. Dallas won four of their first six games, but lost six of their last eight games and posted a mark of 9-7. The Cowboys decided to break their focus on the road and had their worst road record since 2001. Are the Cowboys for real? We will see how good they are when the regular season begins, but the Cowboys are an entertaining team to watch and that is enough to help this team over the 8-8 mark.
  • The Cowboys will benefit from having the weakest schedule in the NFL. These Bills, Eagles and Raiders games will all take place in Dallas, which is a severe advantage. WR Terrell Owens and CB Eric Green will once again have to man the perimeter, and while some of the talent has departed, the Jones match-up should favor the youngsters. DraftKR/PR defensive end Jason Hatcher into the rotation. The Cowboys will be a very tough to beat at home, but might struggle with a soft non-conference schedule. Take the points, sounds like a sure bet to me!

Chicago Bears:

  • Prediction Over 9 Wins- The Bears won the Super Bowl in 2005, but would like to return to the postseason this year. Chicago’s young talent is still intact and the Bears struggled with the loss of RB Thomas to a knee injury. Replacing him will be another injured player, RB Marshawn Lynch.
  • Lynch is one of the League’s best running backs and he is big enough to weather the losing streak if it happens. Lynch is one of the NFL’s final three superstars and he should be in consideration for All-Pro status, but I don’t think it’s enough to win back the respect that was earned by TJ and AJ in the early years of their careers.

The Bears might be the easiest surprise to reach the playoffs with the NFL’s sixth-rated offense. However, don’t count the Bears in as a surprise, as they were a very predictable football team last year and earned the respect of the League. Hard to reach playoffs with a Rate stats perspective, but the Bears posting a perfecturized rate for the season. Draft Rating and NFL Pay Finance in the Luxury Bubble maybe a little high due to Price’s injury, but the Bears getting thrashed by the Lions last Sunday wouldn’t have happened without the health of QB Rex Grossman and his accurate passing and efficient rushing ability.

The Bears were a good cover last year in the NFL as a home dog of 6.5 imply odds to the visiting Atlanta Falcons. Home dogs are always good cover in the NFL since the betting public loves these teams the most, but Atlanta should be motivated to test the patience of the Bears’ fierce defense. Grossman better watch out! THE PICK: Chicago Bears 3 Atlanta Falcons 16

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 15.5 Buffalo Bills

  1. NEW YORK JETS 10 Baltimore Ravens
  2. Well the NFL is back for the second half of the season and the synonymous Bills are not going to be heard again in the near future.
